This is a Treemap of the Fleet library website that I created with the information I chose from the home page, and the tabs under the about and about the library. In the home page the about starts on the right hand side. I wanted to base my treemap on this because this was where I can retrieve more data to process for Module 2 Lab 2 project. with the Fleet library there are not alot of click tabs and buttons to navagate through like other library sites that have an abondance of tabs and links. The Fleet library is straight forward with its contexts to students and faculty. Most of the content followed behind about and about the library. I chose to only to do three levels; however with the site being so simply I don't think there would have been enough data to cover continuance levels after three. Student employment in level 3 had the longest list with the most weight of 9, in level 2. This treemap is a visual graph that gives the data for Information Architects to know what needs to be organized in building and refreshing a website.
I can say this was the first project I did with Excel that did not give me a headache. I did not have any problems developing a treemap with the data I created with Excel. I did have enough data to work with, the RISD Fleet Library is a straight forward web site were users can simply navagate for easy access with out flustration. I learned that in order to create visual information with data control Excel and Sheets is needed to create these sources to measure and analyze the content. The treemapping process reminds me of the word cloud that groups data according to weight or multiple names and lables. I have learned that the more data being retrieved can indeed be time consuming that involoves multiple levels. I realized doing this trreemap is a way for Information Architects to analyze how can a site be user friendly with less tabs to navagate through for answers. The Fleet Library may have already done this proscess of treemapping to redevelop their site to have least amount of links on their Homepage allowing the About and About the Library tags with straight forward detailed answers that would have been overwhelming on the Homepage.
