LSC 548
I have to say I’ve really enjoyed this class. I first signed up for the class so I could have enough credits to graduate on time, and it seemed like a really practical skillset. I began the class not really sure if I was going to be up to the many assignments that would inevitably be assigned. However, I was surprised to find that not only was I able to meet all the assignments and the challenges those assignments created, but I also really enjoyed the process of learning how to code. More than learning to code however, this class allowed me to learn how to design web spaces with library users in mind: focusing on things like accessibility, ease of use, and organization of information in mind.
The Future
I can’t say for certain whether or not I’ll go into system librarianship, although this class has made that into a possibility. More importantly however, because of the skills I’ve gained in this course, I have a better understanding of how to meet user’s needs in digital spaces, and how to help more people overcome more of the barriers between them and their information need. In a growing digital world, these skills have increasing importance, and this class has inspired me to keep learning about digital architecture and keep learning about coding and programming.
