My name is Meagan Lamphere and I am a second year grad student in the Master of Library and Information Studies program at URI. I currently work at the Westerly Public Library in the Children's department as well as the Child Watch center at my local YMCA. At the library, in addition to shelving books and helping patrons locate materials, I also have been doing the Preschool Storytime for the past year. I have just recently started a Baby Storytime as well. As one can tell, I love children so it is my ultimate goal to become a children's librarian.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, listening to Country music and going to many concerts, Country and otherwise. A few years ago I visited Nashville for the first time and have now been there a handful of times; I'm obsessed. On one of my most recent trips, I made it a point to visit the Downtown Branch of the Nashville Public Library. The library in its entirety was absolutely beautiful and the Children's Room was one of the coolest rooms I've ever seen. There were small-scale replicas of Nashville landmarks throughout the room where the children could read or play, including a puppet show theater that was a small-scale replica of the world-famous Ryman Auditorium. It has now become a goal of mine to hopefully one day work at this library!
